Dans une économie mondiale en crise, le Mexique se distingue par la solidité de son économie et ne cesse d’afficher un rythme de croissance certes modéré mais régulier. Il se démarque au sein de l’Amérique latine par sa performance vis-à-vis des grandes économies de la région. La hausse continue des Investissements Directs Étrangers s’est confirmée en 2016, ce qui reflète la confiance des investisseurs à moyen-long terme. Le Mexique est aujourd’hui une plate-forme industrielle d’exportation unique au plan mondial.

Les visites d’État successives du Président François Hollande au Mexique en 2014, et du Président mexicain Enrique Peña Nieto en France l’année suivante (invité d’honneur des cérémonies du 14 juillet 2015) témoignent de la qualité des relations politiques et économique entre les deux pays.
