Im March our jury tasted over 300 products and selected the top products for our online tastings in May. All products can be viewed on the online buyer’s hub.

A strict hygiene concept was developed for the selection and all jury members were tested prior to the pre-tasting.

Who’s who?

Valérie Chartrain  

was born in France and has been living now for more than 15 years in Berlin. In 2017 she started SPIRITFULLY as a platform to share her knowledge about spirits. At the same time she founded THE BEVERAGE BUREAU – the agency for all liquids – which permitted her to work with craft beverage producers, trade fairs or agencies with a focus on premium drinks. Beyond that she works as a trend researcher and foresight strategist.

Paul Truszkowski 

grew up in Rheingau and in the Moselle region and experienced his first grape harvest at the age of four. As a graduate of International Wine Economics & Oenology at the Wine University of Geisenheim, he produced wine himself in Marseille, among other places. He has more than 11 years of wine marketing and wine trade experience and passion for e-commerce, digital media and communication. He is a passionate advisor and speaker in the wine and spirits industry. In his spare time, he has been running the wine blog Drunkenmonday since 2009 and has been the founder and publisher of the wine magazine SCHLUCK since 2015.

Holger Schwarz

was born into a family of wine growers in the region Pfalz. After graduation he did a training as a restaurant specialist and later on he did a sommelier training. In 1996 he finally came to Berlin and started working for the wine shop Viniculture. In 2006 he took it over and reorganised the entire range. You can find especially natural wines in his shop. Like no other he has always discovered the most offbeat wines and thus developed one of the most exciting ranges in the country.

 

Stephanie Döring

was born close to Münster. After graduation she did a training in hotel management. Thanks to this training she discovered her passion for wine and worked for the gourmet hotel Louis C. Jacob (5*) in Hamburg and Gordon Ramsay (3*) in London. As managing director of weinladen.de, she offers an innovative platform in wine trading – whether online, stationary or in her wine bars in Hamburg St. Pauli or Cologne Südstadt.  Technical wine vocabulary is not really important to her. She explains wine in an easy way so that everyone can understand. Her devise: wine doesn’t need technical vocabulary, it should just taste good.

Justin Leone

was born in Canada and grew up in Chicago. During his music studies, he worked as a waiter and got to know and love wines. In 2010 he started working as a sommelier of the gourmet restaurant Alinea (3*) and became sommelier for Markus Wareing (2*). In 2011 he decided to come to Germany and worked as a chef sommelier of Tantris Restaurant (2*) until 2017. In 2018 he opened his own restaurant, an American BBQ Restaurant which name is “Bottles & Bones”. It combines  good wines, BBQ and  Rock’N’Roll live music.

 

Konstantin Baum

has travelled thousands of kilometres in his life, been up to his knees in grape juice in New Zealand, talked with Bono and The Edge about Bordeaux in Dublin, studied wine business in the Rheingau, traded in the most expensive drops in London and visited (almost) every winery in Australia. Today Konstantin runs the innovative online trading company meinelese.de, which imports artisanal wines from Europe and distributes them throughout Germany. He is always on the lookout for the next great discovery. Besides he works as wine ambassador and manages the wine menu of one of the best hotels in the world.  In 2015 he became the youngest German Master of Wine and in 2019 he was elected among the 50 greatest talents in the wine world and awarded the WSET & IWSC Future 50 Award.

 What is the “e-Vitrine”?

The eVitrine is an online professional buyers hub launched by Business France, to promote French wines, spirits, beers and ciders that have participated in a Business France B2B tasting event including Les French Wine Days. You can find a total of 17 000 products from 1 600 suppliers on this plattform. The aim is to help professional buyers around the world to source French products and to put them in contact with the producers.

How does an online tasting work?

Business France proposes 5 different online tastings, each tasting has a particular theme and lasts approximately 1h30.

An expert for each theme animates a guided tasting of the Top 6 or Top 10 products, that have been previously selected.

The French producers will be connected during the tasting. They will introduce themselves and answer any questions you may have about their products.

Please note that attendance is limited to 30 buyers per tasting. Once registration is confirmed, samples will be sent to you in advance at the address of your choice.
